Back Story

I buzzed down to New York City for an art opening in September 2025. I was stying at a brownstone in Brooklyn, but the gallery was in SoHo. On the subway ride over, I was caught by surprise when the train surfaced and went across the Manhattan Bridge. I thought it made for a captivating view. On the way home, after the sun had gone down, I was sure to record the sight on my iPhone. I didn't know what I would do with the footage, but it was something I wanted to capture and keep in my back pocket.

Fast forward a few months when I met a local filmmaker at a screening in Fort Lauderdale. I had been on somewhat of a hiatus from video production, in no small part because I didn't have current hardware and software to process and edit video. I asked him what he used and he said Davinci Resolve on a MacBook Air. Just a couple weeks later a MacBook Air fell into my lap cheap, so the first thing I did was to download Divinci Resolve. I immediately imported the Manhattan Bridge clip to learn how to use the application. Next I downloaded GarageBand, and after a little noodling around I had an original soundtrack to go along with the imagery. I hacked out a voiceover to go along with it, and after manipulating it in GarageBand I pasted it over the soundtrack and I had a finished piece.

Hopefully this marks my return to being an active filmmaker again.
