1991 Volvo 240
This addition to the family was totally unplanned, kind of like an unexpected pregnancy. I stumbled across it in Craigslist, and it caught my eye. Using poor judgment, I went and looked at it. It put its charms on me from the very start. Usually I try to talk myself out of something because the car isn't good. This one was just fine, a cherry in fact for its age, but the problem was I just didn't need it. Still, I couldn't say no, so within 48 hours it was mine.
After driving it just a little bit, I could see why the 240 series was such a successful model. It's a nice, little, basic European sedan. I had always thought of these as midsized cars, but by today's standards it's actually pretty small. It makes great use of the available space, and is just simply what it should be without trying to be something else. I'm not sure what I'll use it for, but it's already finding a warm place in my heart.
